In this tutorial we learn how to install uhd-soapysdr on Ubuntu.
What is uhd-soapysdr
uhd-soapysdr is:
Both SoapySDR and the Universal Hardware Driver by Ettus Research projects provide libraries to access various software defined radio hardware through a common interface.
This UHD module makes all SoapySDR devices available to applications using libuhd. An interface in the other direction is available in the soapysdr-module-uhd package.
There are three methods to install uhd-soapysdr on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install uhd-soapysdr Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install uhd-soapysdr using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install uhd-soapysdr
Install uhd-soapysdr Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install uhd-soapysdr using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install uhd-soapysdr
Install uhd-soapysdr Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install uhd-soapysdr using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install uhd-soapysdr
How To Uninstall uhd-soapysdr on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the uhd-soapysdr package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove uhd-soapysdr
Uninstall uhd-soapysdr And Its Dependencies
To uninstall uhd-soapysdr and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove uhd-soapysdr
Remove uhd-soapysdr Configurations and Data
To remove uhd-soapysdr configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge uhd-soapysdr
Remove uhd-soapysdr configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove uhd-soapysdr configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge uhd-soapysdr
