Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install tunnelx on Ubuntu.
What is tunnelx
tunnelx is:
Tunnel enables you to draw cave surveys based on Survex-compatible centreline data. Drawings will be adjusted to fit if the underlying data moves due to loop closures. Original drawings/scans/pockettopo imports can be used as a basis to draw over. Complex multi-layered surveys can be drawn, with flexible facilties for colour-grouping and adding images or background maps. The application can use data stored online and works on all major platforms.
There are three methods to install tunnelx on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install tunnelx Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install tunnelx using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install tunnelx
Install tunnelx Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install tunnelx using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install tunnelx
Install tunnelx Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install tunnelx using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install tunnelx
How To Uninstall tunnelx on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the tunnelx package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove tunnelx
Uninstall tunnelx And Its Dependencies
To uninstall tunnelx and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove tunnelx
Remove tunnelx Configurations and Data
To remove tunnelx configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge tunnelx
Remove tunnelx configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove tunnelx configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge tunnelx
