In this tutorial we learn how to install trousers on Ubuntu.
What is trousers
trousers is:
TrouSerS is an implementation of the Trusted Computing Group’s Software Stack (TSS) specification. You can use TrouSerS to write applications that make use of your TPM hardware. TPM hardware can create, store and use RSA keys securely (without ever being exposed in memory), verify a platform’s software state using cryptographic hashes and more.
TrouSerS aims to be compliant with the 1.1b and 1.2 TSS specifications available from the Trusted Computing Group website at http://www.trustedcomputinggroup.org/.
There are three methods to install trousers on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install trousers Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install trousers using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install trousers

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install trousers using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install trousers
Install trousers Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install trousers using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install trousers
How To Uninstall trousers on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the trousers package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove trousers

To uninstall trousers and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove trousers
Remove trousers Configurations and Data
To remove trousers configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge trousers
