Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install triehash on Ubuntu.
What is triehash
triehash is:
TrieHash generates perfect hash functions as C code which then gets compiled into optimal machine code as part of the usual program compilation.
TrieHash works by translating a list of strings to a trie, and then converting the trie to a set of recursive switch statements; first switching by length, and then switching by bytes.
TrieHash has various optimizations such as processing multiple bytes at once (on GNU C), and shortcuts for reducing the complexity of case-insensitive matching (ASCII only). Generated code performs substantially faster than gperf, but is larger.
TrieHash was written for use in APT.
There are three methods to install triehash on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install triehash Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install triehash using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install triehash
Install triehash Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install triehash using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install triehash
Install triehash Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install triehash using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install triehash
How To Uninstall triehash on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the triehash package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove triehash
Uninstall triehash And Its Dependencies
To uninstall triehash and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove triehash
Remove triehash Configurations and Data
To remove triehash configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge triehash
Remove triehash configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove triehash configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge triehash
Dependencies
triehash have the following dependencies:
