Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install tortoize on Ubuntu.
What is tortoize
tortoize is:
Tortoize validates protein structure models by checking the Ramachandran plot and side-chain rotamer distributions. Quality Z-scores are given at the residue level and at the model level (ramachandran-z and torsions-z). Higher scores are better. To compare models or to describe the reliability of the model Z-scores jackknife- based standard deviations are also reported (ramachandran-jackknife-sd and torsion-jackknife-sd).
There are three methods to install tortoize on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install tortoize Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install tortoize using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install tortoize
Install tortoize Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install tortoize using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install tortoize
Install tortoize Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install tortoize using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install tortoize
How To Uninstall tortoize on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the tortoize package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove tortoize
Uninstall tortoize And Its Dependencies
To uninstall tortoize and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove tortoize
Remove tortoize Configurations and Data
To remove tortoize configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge tortoize
