What is tomcat9-user
tomcat9-user is:
Apache Tomcat implements the Java Servlet and the JavaServer Pages (JSP) specifications from Oracle, and provides a “pure Java” HTTP web server environment for Java code to run.
This package contains files needed to create a user Tomcat instance. This user Tomcat instance can be started and stopped using the scripts provided in the Tomcat instance directory.
There are three methods to install tomcat9-user on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install tomcat9-user Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install tomcat9-user using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install tomcat9-user

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install tomcat9-user using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install tomcat9-user
Install tomcat9-user Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install tomcat9-user using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install tomcat9-user
How To Uninstall tomcat9-user on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the tomcat9-user package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove tomcat9-user
Uninstall tomcat9-user And Its Dependencies
To uninstall tomcat9-user and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove tomcat9-user
Remove tomcat9-user Configurations and Data
To remove tomcat9-user configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge tomcat9-user
