Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install tircd on Ubuntu.
What is tircd
tircd is:
tircd presents Twitter as an IRC channel. You can connect to tircd with any IRC client, and Twitter as if you were on IRC.
To update your status on Twitter, send a message to the #twitter channel. When users you follow update their status, tircd will be sent to the channel as a message from them. Other actions are similarly mapped to the equivalent IRC commands and events.
There are three methods to install tircd on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install tircd Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install tircd using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install tircd
Install tircd Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install tircd using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install tircd
Install tircd Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install tircd using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install tircd
How To Uninstall tircd on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the tircd package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove tircd
Uninstall tircd And Its Dependencies
To uninstall tircd and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove tircd
Remove tircd Configurations and Data
To remove tircd configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge tircd
Remove tircd configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove tircd configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge tircd
