In this tutorial we learn how to install tilda on Ubuntu.
What is tilda
tilda is:
Tilda is a terminal emulator similar to normal terminals like gnome-terminal (GNOME) or Konsole (KDE), with the difference that it drops down from the edge of a screen when a certain configurable hotkey is pressed. This is similar to the build-in consoles in games such as Quake or Half-live. Tilda is highly configureable through a graphical wizard.
There are three methods to install tilda on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install tilda Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install tilda using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install tilda
Install tilda Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install tilda using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install tilda
Install tilda Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install tilda using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install tilda
How To Uninstall tilda on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the tilda package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove tilda
Uninstall tilda And Its Dependencies
To uninstall tilda and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove tilda
Remove tilda Configurations and Data
To remove tilda configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge tilda
Remove tilda configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
