In this tutorial we learn how to install tightvncpasswd on Ubuntu.
What is tightvncpasswd
tightvncpasswd is:
VNC stands for Virtual Network Computing. It is, in essence, a remote display system which allows you to view a computing `desktop’ environment not only on the machine where it is running, but from anywhere on the Internet and from a wide variety of machine architectures.
This package provides the vncpasswd tool mandatory for the tightvncserver and optional for the xtightvncviewer.
There are three methods to install tightvncpasswd on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install tightvncpasswd Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install tightvncpasswd using apt-get by running the following command:

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install tightvncpasswd using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
