What is texinfo
texinfo is:
Texinfo is a documentation system that uses a single source file to produce both on-line information and printed output.
Using Texinfo, you can create a printed document with the normal features of a book, including chapters, sections, cross references, and indices. From the same Texinfo source file, you can create a menu-driven, on-line Info file with nodes, menus, cross references, and indices.
There are three methods to install texinfo on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install texinfo Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install texinfo using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install texinfo

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install texinfo using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install texinfo

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

To remove texinfo configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge texinfo
