Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install texify on Ubuntu.
What is texify
texify is:
Texify is a perl script that translates source code written in any of several different languages to LaTeX source files. The purpose is to make source code embedded in documents more readable, by performing syntax highlighting.
The supported languages are ABEL, Ada, Assembly, B, BETA, Bison, C, C++, OMG/CORBA IDL, Java, Lex, Lisp, LOGLA, MATLAB, ML, Perl, Promela, Python, Scheme, SIMULA, SQL, Ruby and VHDL.
There are three methods to install texify on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install texify Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install texify using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install texify
Install texify Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install texify using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install texify
Install texify Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install texify using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install texify
How To Uninstall texify on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the texify package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove texify
Uninstall texify And Its Dependencies
To uninstall texify and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove texify
Remove texify Configurations and Data
To remove texify configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge texify
