How To Install tcplay on Ubuntu

Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install tcplay on Ubuntu.
What is tcplay
tcplay is:
tcplay is a free (BSD-licensed), pretty much fully featured (including multiple keyfiles, cipher cascades, etc) and stable TrueCrypt implementation.
This implementation supports mapping (opening) both system and normal TrueCrypt volumes, as well as opening hidden volumes and opening an outer volume while protecting a hidden volume. There is also support to create volumes, including hidden volumes, etc.
Since tcplay uses dm-crypt it makes full use of any available hardware encryption/decryption support once the volume has been mapped.
There are three methods to install tcplay on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install tcplay Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install tcplay using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install tcplay
Install tcplay Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install tcplay using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install tcplay
Install tcplay Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install tcplay using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install tcplay
How To Uninstall tcplay on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the tcplay package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove tcplay
Uninstall tcplay And Its Dependencies
To uninstall tcplay and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove tcplay
Remove tcplay Configurations and Data
To remove tcplay configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge tcplay
Remove tcplay configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove tcplay configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge tcplay
