How To Install tcode on Ubuntu

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install tcode on Ubuntu.

What is tcode

tcode is:

Tcode is a precondition for libssj-java (SSJ) that creates a Java file from an associated LaTeX file. All SSJ code is written in LaTex format with special commands that allows Tcode to extract the Java code from the LaTex file. After which, Javadoc and LaTeX2HTML will create the HTML documentation. This guarantees that the source code and its documentation will never diverge.

There are three methods to install tcode on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install tcode Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install tcode using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install tcode

Install tcode Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install tcode using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install tcode

Install tcode Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install tcode using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install tcode

How To Uninstall tcode on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the tcode package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove tcode

Uninstall tcode And Its Dependencies

To uninstall tcode and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove tcode

Remove tcode Configurations and Data

To remove tcode configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge tcode

Remove tcode configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove tcode configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge tcode
