Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install syncevolution-dbus on Ubuntu.
What is syncevolution-dbus
syncevolution-dbus is:
SyncEvolution synchronizes contact, calendar and task items via SyncML and CalDAV/CardDAV with other servers or devices. It uses the Evolution Data Server to sync PIM data in Evolution, but a plain file storage is also supported. Data exchange can happen via HTTP(S) and Bluetooth. Full, one-way and incremental synchronization of items are supported. SyncEvolution can act as a SyncML/DAV client and SyncML server.
This package provides D-Bus services.
There are three methods to install syncevolution-dbus on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install syncevolution-dbus Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install syncevolution-dbus using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install syncevolution-dbus
Install syncevolution-dbus Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install syncevolution-dbus using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install syncevolution-dbus
Install syncevolution-dbus Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install syncevolution-dbus using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install syncevolution-dbus
How To Uninstall syncevolution-dbus on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the syncevolution-dbus package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove syncevolution-dbus
Uninstall syncevolution-dbus And Its Dependencies
To uninstall syncevolution-dbus and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove syncevolution-dbus
Remove syncevolution-dbus Configurations and Data
To remove syncevolution-dbus configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge syncevolution-dbus
Remove syncevolution-dbus configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove syncevolution-dbus configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge syncevolution-dbus
