Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install supysonic on Ubuntu.
What is supysonic
supysonic is:
supysonic is a Python implementation of the Subsonic server API. Current supported features are:
- browsing (by folders or tags)
- streaming of various audio file formats
- transcoding
- user or random playlists
- cover arts (as image files in the same folder as music files)
- starred tracks/albums and ratings
- Last.FM scrobbling
The “Subsonic API” is a set of adhoc standards to browse, stream or download a music collection over HTTP.
There are three methods to install supysonic on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install supysonic Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install supysonic using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install supysonic
Install supysonic Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install supysonic using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install supysonic
Install supysonic Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install supysonic using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install supysonic
How To Uninstall supysonic on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the supysonic package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove supysonic
Uninstall supysonic And Its Dependencies
To uninstall supysonic and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove supysonic
Remove supysonic Configurations and Data
To remove supysonic configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge supysonic
Remove supysonic configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove supysonic configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge supysonic
