Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install sunpinyin-utils on Ubuntu.
What is sunpinyin-utils
sunpinyin-utils is:
Sunpinyin is a statistical language model (SLM) based input method engine for Simplified Chinese, it features full sentence input.
This package contains some utilities used by open-gram project, including:
- genpyt - generate the pinyin lexicon
- tslmpack - convert the ARPA format of SunPinyin back-off language model to its binary representation
- tslmendian - change the byte-order of sunpinyin’s threaded back-off language model
and some Python programs which maybe used to import user dictionary from other input method such as sougou, google, fcitx etc.
There are three methods to install sunpinyin-utils on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sunpinyin-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install sunpinyin-utils using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sunpinyin-utils
Install sunpinyin-utils Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sunpinyin-utils using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sunpinyin-utils
Install sunpinyin-utils Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install sunpinyin-utils using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sunpinyin-utils
How To Uninstall sunpinyin-utils on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the sunpinyin-utils package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sunpinyin-utils
Uninstall sunpinyin-utils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sunpinyin-utils and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sunpinyin-utils
Remove sunpinyin-utils Configurations and Data
To remove sunpinyin-utils configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sunpinyin-utils
Remove sunpinyin-utils configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove sunpinyin-utils configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge sunpinyin-utils
