Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install step on Ubuntu.
What is step
step is:
With Step you can not only learn but feel how physics works. You place some bodies on the scene, add some forces such as gravity or springs, then click “Simulate” and Step shows you how your scene will evolve according to the laws of physics. You can change every property of bodies/forces in your experiment (even during simulation) and see how this will change evolution of the experiment.
This package is part of the KDE education module.
There are three methods to install step on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install step Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install step using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install step
Install step Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install step using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install step
Install step Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install step using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install step
How To Uninstall step on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the step package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove step
Uninstall step And Its Dependencies
To uninstall step and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove step
Remove step Configurations and Data
To remove step configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge step
Remove step configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove step configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge step
