What is stenographer-client
stenographer-client is:
Stenographer is a full-packet-capture utility for buffering packets to disk for intrusion detection and incident response purposes. It provides a high-performance implementation of NIC-to-disk packet writing, handles deleting those files as disk fills up, and provides methods for reading back specific sets of packets quickly and easily.
This package contains a HTTP-based client.
There are three methods to install stenographer-client on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install stenographer-client Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install stenographer-client using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install stenographer-client
Install stenographer-client Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install stenographer-client using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install stenographer-client
Install stenographer-client Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install stenographer-client using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install stenographer-client
How To Uninstall stenographer-client on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the stenographer-client package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove stenographer-client

To uninstall stenographer-client and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove stenographer-client
Remove stenographer-client Configurations and Data
To remove stenographer-client configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge stenographer-client
