Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install steghide on Ubuntu.
What is steghide
steghide is:
Steghide is steganography program which hides bits of a data file in some of the least significant bits of another file in such a way that the existence of the data file is not visible and cannot be proven.
Steghide is designed to be portable and configurable and features hiding data in bmp, jpeg, wav and au files, blowfish encryption, MD5 hashing of passphrases to blowfish keys, and pseudo-random distribution of hidden bits in the container data.
Steghide is useful in digital forensics investigations.
There are three methods to install steghide on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install steghide Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install steghide using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install steghide

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install steghide using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install steghide

To remove steghide configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge steghide
