Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install statsvn on Ubuntu.
What is statsvn
statsvn is:
StatSVN retrieves information from a Subversion repository and generates various tables and charts describing the project evolution, e.g. the lines of code over time, contribution of each developer, the evolution of modules, directories, files, the time and days when most checkins happen, etc. It also shows the commit logs and integrates out of the box with ViewVc, BugZilla, Chora and others.
StatSVN generates a static suite of HTML or XDoc documents containing tables and chart images.
There are three methods to install statsvn on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install statsvn Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install statsvn using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install statsvn
Install statsvn Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install statsvn using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install statsvn
Install statsvn Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install statsvn using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install statsvn
How To Uninstall statsvn on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the statsvn package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove statsvn
Uninstall statsvn And Its Dependencies
To uninstall statsvn and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove statsvn
Remove statsvn Configurations and Data
To remove statsvn configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge statsvn
