Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install squeezelite-pulseaudio on Ubuntu.
What is squeezelite-pulseaudio
squeezelite-pulseaudio is:
Squeezelite is a small headless Squeezebox emulator. It is aimed at supporting high quality audio including USB DAC based output at multiple sample rates.
It supports decoding PCM (WAV/AIFF), FLAC, MP3, Ogg, AAC, WMA and ALAC audio formats. It can also resample audio, which allows squeezelite to upsample the output to the highest sample rate supported by the output device.
This package is built with the resampling, ffmpeg and visualisation export options. It uses PulseAudio for audio output.
There are three methods to install squeezelite-pulseaudio on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install squeezelite-pulseaudio Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install squeezelite-pulseaudio using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install squeezelite-pulseaudio
Install squeezelite-pulseaudio Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install squeezelite-pulseaudio using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install squeezelite-pulseaudio
Install squeezelite-pulseaudio Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install squeezelite-pulseaudio using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install squeezelite-pulseaudio
How To Uninstall squeezelite-pulseaudio on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the squeezelite-pulseaudio package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove squeezelite-pulseaudio
Uninstall squeezelite-pulseaudio And Its Dependencies
To uninstall squeezelite-pulseaudio and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove squeezelite-pulseaudio

To remove squeezelite-pulseaudio configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge squeezelite-pulseaudio
Remove squeezelite-pulseaudio configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove squeezelite-pulseaudio configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge squeezelite-pulseaudio
