In this tutorial we learn how to install sqlobject-admin on Ubuntu.
What is sqlobject-admin
sqlobject-admin is:
SQLObject is an object-relational mapper. It allows you to translate RDBMS table rows into Python objects, and manipulate those objects to transparently manipulate the database.
In using SQLObject, you will create a class definition that will describe how the object connects to the database (in addition to any other methods you may wish to add to the class). SQLObject will produce the code to access the database, and update the database with your changes. The interface to the database is meant to be indistinguishable from other interfaces you may add to the object.
SQLObject also includes a novel feature to generate WHERE clauses using Python syntax and objects (instead of generating SQL using string substitution, as is traditional).
This package includes the sqlobject-admin and sqlobject-convertOldURI helper applications for use with SQLObject.
There are three methods to install sqlobject-admin on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sqlobject-admin Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install sqlobject-admin using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sqlobject-admin
Install sqlobject-admin Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sqlobject-admin using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sqlobject-admin
Install sqlobject-admin Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install sqlobject-admin using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sqlobject-admin
How To Uninstall sqlobject-admin on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the sqlobject-admin package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sqlobject-admin
Uninstall sqlobject-admin And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sqlobject-admin and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sqlobject-admin
Remove sqlobject-admin Configurations and Data
To remove sqlobject-admin configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sqlobject-admin
Remove sqlobject-admin configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove sqlobject-admin configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge sqlobject-admin
