In this tutorial we learn how to install sphde-utils on Ubuntu.
What is sphde-utils
sphde-utils is:
SPHDE is composed of two major software layers: The Shared Address Space (SAS) layer provides the basic services for a shared address space and transparent, persistent storage. The Shared Persistent Heap (SPH) layer organizes blocks of SAS storage into useful functions for storing and retrieving data.
This package contains the SPHDE utilities.
There are three methods to install sphde-utils on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sphde-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install sphde-utils using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sphde-utils
Install sphde-utils Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sphde-utils using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sphde-utils
Install sphde-utils Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install sphde-utils using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sphde-utils
How To Uninstall sphde-utils on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the sphde-utils package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sphde-utils
Uninstall sphde-utils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sphde-utils and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sphde-utils
Remove sphde-utils Configurations and Data
To remove sphde-utils configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sphde-utils
