Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install spellutils on Ubuntu.
What is spellutils
spellutils is:
Spellutils is a suite of programs which are used to isolate some parts from various types of files and hand them over to another program which may change the texts; it is typically a spell checker. Afterwards the possibly changed text parts are copied back in place in the original file.
The newsbody program is intended for use on mail and news messages; it can e.g. ignore headers, quoted material and signatures.
The pospell program is for use on translated strings in .po files.
There are three methods to install spellutils on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install spellutils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install spellutils using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install spellutils
Install spellutils Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install spellutils using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install spellutils
Install spellutils Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install spellutils using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install spellutils
How To Uninstall spellutils on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the spellutils package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove spellutils
Uninstall spellutils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall spellutils and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove spellutils
Remove spellutils Configurations and Data
To remove spellutils configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge spellutils
