What is speakup-tools
speakup-tools is:
This package provides three scripts to configure and make easier using speakup_soft module.
- speakupconf allows one to save and restore speakup’s customizable variables.
- speakup_setlocale allows one to choose another language so that speakup’s messages are localized.
- talkwith allows one to easily switch between speech synthesizers.
There are three methods to install speakup-tools on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install speakup-tools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install speakup-tools using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install speakup-tools
Install speakup-tools Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install speakup-tools using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install speakup-tools
Install speakup-tools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install speakup-tools using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install speakup-tools
How To Uninstall speakup-tools on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the speakup-tools package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove speakup-tools
Uninstall speakup-tools And Its Dependencies
To uninstall speakup-tools and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove speakup-tools
Remove speakup-tools Configurations and Data
To remove speakup-tools configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge speakup-tools
