In this tutorial we learn how to install spacefm-common on Ubuntu.

What is spacefm-common

spacefm-common is:

SpaceFM is a multi-panel tabbed file and desktop manager for Linux with built-in VFS, udev or HAL-based device manager, customizable menu system and bash integration.

This package contains files used by both the GTK+2 (spacefm) and GTK+3 (spacefm-gtk3) versions.

There are three methods to install spacefm-common on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install spacefm-common Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install spacefm-common using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install spacefm-common

Install spacefm-common Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install spacefm-common using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install spacefm-common

Install spacefm-common Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install spacefm-common using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install spacefm-common

How To Uninstall spacefm-common on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the spacefm-common package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove spacefm-common

Uninstall spacefm-common And Its Dependencies

To uninstall spacefm-common and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove spacefm-common

Remove spacefm-common Configurations and Data

To remove spacefm-common configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge spacefm-common

Remove spacefm-common configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove spacefm-common configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
