How To Install socklog on Ubuntu

Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install socklog on Ubuntu.
What is socklog
socklog is:
socklog cooperates with the runit package to create a small and secure replacement for rsyslog. socklog supports system logging through Unix domain sockets (/dev/log), UDP sockets (0.0.0.0:514), as well as TCP socket, with the help of runit’s runsvdir, runsv, and svlogd. socklog provides a different network logging concept, and also does log event notification. svlogd has built in log file rotation based on file size, so there is no need for any cron jobs to rotate the logs. socklog is small, secure, and reliable.
This package contains the socklog binaries and manual pages.
There are three methods to install socklog on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install socklog Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install socklog using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install socklog
Install socklog Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install socklog using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install socklog
Install socklog Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install socklog using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install socklog
How To Uninstall socklog on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the socklog package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove socklog
Uninstall socklog And Its Dependencies
To uninstall socklog and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove socklog
Remove socklog Configurations and Data
To remove socklog configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge socklog
Remove socklog configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove socklog configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge socklog
