In this tutorial we learn how to install slurm-wlm on Ubuntu.

What is slurm-wlm

slurm-wlm is:

SLURM stands for Simple Linux Utility for Resource Management, it is an open-source cluster resource management and job scheduling system that strives to be simple, scalable, portable, fault-tolerant, and interconnect agnostic. This metapackage contains all client side commands, the compute node daemon and the central management daemon.

There are three methods to install slurm-wlm on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install slurm-wlm Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install slurm-wlm using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install slurm-wlm

Install slurm-wlm Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install slurm-wlm using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install slurm-wlm

Install slurm-wlm Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install slurm-wlm using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install slurm-wlm

How To Uninstall slurm-wlm on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the slurm-wlm package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove slurm-wlm

Uninstall slurm-wlm And Its Dependencies

To uninstall slurm-wlm and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove slurm-wlm

Remove slurm-wlm Configurations and Data

To remove slurm-wlm configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge slurm-wlm

Remove slurm-wlm configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove slurm-wlm configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge slurm-wlm
