In this tutorial we learn how to install sludge-engine on Ubuntu.
What is sludge-engine
sludge-engine is:
SLUDGE is an open source adventure game engine. It combines a scripting language with IDE tools.
This package contains the runtime engine needed to run the games. Freeware SLUDGE games include “Out Of Order”, “Cubert Badbone, P.I.” and “The Game That Takes Place on a Cruise Ship”.
There are three methods to install sludge-engine on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sludge-engine Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install sludge-engine using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sludge-engine
Install sludge-engine Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sludge-engine using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sludge-engine
Install sludge-engine Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install sludge-engine using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sludge-engine
How To Uninstall sludge-engine on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the sludge-engine package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sludge-engine
Uninstall sludge-engine And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sludge-engine and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sludge-engine
Remove sludge-engine Configurations and Data
To remove sludge-engine configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sludge-engine

We can use the following command to remove sludge-engine configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
