In this tutorial we learn how to install slashem-common on Ubuntu.
What is slashem-common
slashem-common is:
This package contains the files comme to all the window ports of Slash’EM. You need to install at least one package containing a window port to use this package:
slashem - The basic ASCII interface slashem-x11 - Simple graphic interface using Xaw slashem-sdl - Graphical interface usnig SDL slashem-gtk - Graphical interface usnig Gtk
There are three methods to install slashem-common on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install slashem-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install slashem-common using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install slashem-common
Install slashem-common Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install slashem-common using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install slashem-common
Install slashem-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install slashem-common using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install slashem-common
How To Uninstall slashem-common on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the slashem-common package we can use the following command:
