Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install sispmctl on Ubuntu.
What is sispmctl
sispmctl is:
The sispmctl tool can control Gembird SIS-PM Silver Shield programmable power outlet strips (also known under the name Revolt Intelli-Plug) from the command line.
It can be used to switch on or off any of the programmable power sockets of the SIS-PM via USB. It can also show the current status of each power socket, and it can handle multiple SIS-PM devices, too.
There are three methods to install sispmctl on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sispmctl Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install sispmctl using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sispmctl
Install sispmctl Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sispmctl using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sispmctl
Install sispmctl Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install sispmctl using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sispmctl
How To Uninstall sispmctl on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the sispmctl package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sispmctl
Uninstall sispmctl And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sispmctl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sispmctl
Remove sispmctl Configurations and Data
To remove sispmctl configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sispmctl
Remove sispmctl configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove sispmctl configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
