In this tutorial we learn how to install siril-common on Ubuntu.
What is siril-common
siril-common is:
Siril is an image processing tool specially tailored for noise reduction and improving the signal/noise ratio of an image from multiple captures, as required in astronomy. Siril can align automatically or manually, stack and enhance pictures from various file formats, even images sequences (movies and SER files).
This package provides the architecture-independent files (Siril scripts and other files).
There are three methods to install siril-common on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install siril-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install siril-common using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install siril-common
Install siril-common Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install siril-common using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install siril-common
Install siril-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install siril-common using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install siril-common
How To Uninstall siril-common on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the siril-common package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove siril-common
Uninstall siril-common And Its Dependencies
To uninstall siril-common and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove siril-common
Remove siril-common Configurations and Data
To remove siril-common configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge siril-common
Remove siril-common configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove siril-common configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge siril-common
