In this tutorial we learn how to install sipvicious on Ubuntu.
What is sipvicious
sipvicious is:
SIPVicious suite is a set of tools that can be used to audit SIP based VoIP systems. This suite has five tools: svmap, svwar, svcrack, svreport, svcrash.
svmap is a sip scanner. When launched against ranges of ip address space, it will identify any SIP servers which it finds on the way.
svwar identifies working extension lines on a PBX. Also tells you if extension line requires authentication or not.
svcrack is a password cracker making use of digest authentication. It is able to crack passwords on both registrar servers and proxy servers.
svreport is able to manage sessions created by the rest of the tools and export to pdf, xml, csv and plain text.
svcrash responds to svwar and svcrack SIP messages with a message that causes old versions to crash.
There are three methods to install sipvicious on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sipvicious Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install sipvicious using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sipvicious
Install sipvicious Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sipvicious using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sipvicious
Install sipvicious Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install sipvicious using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sipvicious
How To Uninstall sipvicious on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the sipvicious package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sipvicious
