In this tutorial we learn how to install simple-whip-client on Ubuntu.

What is simple-whip-client

simple-whip-client is:

simple-whip-client is a WHIP client implementation, using GStreamer.

WebRTC-HTTP ingestion protocol (WHIP) is a simple HTTP based protocol that will allow WebRTC based ingest of content into streaming servics and/or CDNs.

GStreamer is a pipeline-based multimedia framework that links together a wide variety of media processing systems to complete complex workflows.

There are three methods to install simple-whip-client on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install simple-whip-client Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install simple-whip-client using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install simple-whip-client

Install simple-whip-client Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install simple-whip-client using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install simple-whip-client

Install simple-whip-client Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install simple-whip-client using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install simple-whip-client

How To Uninstall simple-whip-client on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the simple-whip-client package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove simple-whip-client

Uninstall simple-whip-client And Its Dependencies

To uninstall simple-whip-client and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove simple-whip-client

Remove simple-whip-client Configurations and Data

To remove simple-whip-client configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge simple-whip-client

Remove simple-whip-client configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove simple-whip-client configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge simple-whip-client
