What is selinux-utils
selinux-utils is:
This package provides various utility programs for a Security-enhanced Linux system. Security-enhanced Linux is a patch of the Linux kernel and a number of utilities with enhanced security functionality designed to add mandatory access controls to Linux. This package provides utility programs to get and set process and file security contexts and to obtain security policy decisions.
There are three methods to install selinux-utils on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install selinux-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install selinux-utils using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install selinux-utils
Install selinux-utils Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install selinux-utils using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install selinux-utils
Install selinux-utils Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install selinux-utils using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install selinux-utils
How To Uninstall selinux-utils on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the selinux-utils package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove selinux-utils
Uninstall selinux-utils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall selinux-utils and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove selinux-utils
Remove selinux-utils Configurations and Data
To remove selinux-utils configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge selinux-utils
