Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install selint on Ubuntu.
What is selint
selint is:
SELint is a program to perform static code analysis on SELinux policy source files.
It is designed for refpolicy style policies and supports the standard SELinux policy language (not CIL).
It performs various checks from incorrect filecontext definitions over missing or superfluous required entries in interfaces to violations of the refpolicy style guide. All categories can be either enabled or disabled via the command line or a configuration file.
There are three methods to install selint on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install selint Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install selint using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install selint

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install selint using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install selint
Install selint Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
