Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install sct on Ubuntu.
What is sct
sct is:
sct is a small C program to change the screen color temperature. It can be used to reduce or increase the amount of blue light produced by the screen.
sct sets the color temperature of the screen via xrandr like redshift. Unlike redshift, it is only 80 lines of C and will not change the screen temperature automatically.
There are three methods to install sct on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sct Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install sct using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sct
Install sct Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sct using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sct
Install sct Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install sct using aptitude by running the following command:
