In this tutorial we learn how to install scrappie on Ubuntu.
What is scrappie
scrappie is:
The Nanopore is a device for DNA/RNA sequencing that does not require an amplification of the material. The polynucleotides are threaded through a pore and while these pass through, the change in the electrostatic potential allows one to identify (“call”) the actual base that resides in the pore. Scrappie goes a step further and also attempts to describe modifications to the nucleic acid.
There are three methods to install scrappie on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install scrappie Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install scrappie using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install scrappie
Install scrappie Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install scrappie using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install scrappie
Install scrappie Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install scrappie using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install scrappie
How To Uninstall scrappie on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the scrappie package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove scrappie
Uninstall scrappie And Its Dependencies
To uninstall scrappie and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove scrappie
Remove scrappie Configurations and Data
To remove scrappie configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge scrappie
