In this tutorial we learn how to install sbmltoolbox on Ubuntu.
What is sbmltoolbox
sbmltoolbox is:
The SBMLToolbox provides a set of basic functions for reading, writing, manipulating, and simulating SBML (System Biology Meta Language) models. It is a free Open Source package on top of the libSBML with full compatibility to work with MATLAB and Octave alike and share models between the two systems.
The toolbox is not a complete turn key solution for Systems Biology. It has its emphasis on easing the handling of SBML data and serves as a starting point for users and developers to establish their own methods.
There are three methods to install sbmltoolbox on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sbmltoolbox Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install sbmltoolbox using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sbmltoolbox
Install sbmltoolbox Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sbmltoolbox using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sbmltoolbox
Install sbmltoolbox Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install sbmltoolbox using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sbmltoolbox
How To Uninstall sbmltoolbox on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the sbmltoolbox package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sbmltoolbox
Uninstall sbmltoolbox And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sbmltoolbox and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sbmltoolbox
Remove sbmltoolbox Configurations and Data
To remove sbmltoolbox configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sbmltoolbox
Remove sbmltoolbox configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove sbmltoolbox configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge sbmltoolbox
