Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install sablecc on Ubuntu.
What is sablecc
sablecc is:
SableCC is a parser generator which generates fully featured object-oriented frameworks for building compilers, interpreters and other text parsers.
In particular, generated frameworks include intuitive strictly-typed abstract syntax trees and tree walkers. SableCC also keeps a clean separation between machine-generated code and user-written code.
This package also contains AntTask, a task to invoke SableCC on grammar files.
There are three methods to install sablecc on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sablecc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install sablecc using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sablecc
Install sablecc Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sablecc using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sablecc
Install sablecc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install sablecc using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sablecc
How To Uninstall sablecc on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the sablecc package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sablecc
Uninstall sablecc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sablecc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sablecc
Remove sablecc Configurations and Data
To remove sablecc configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sablecc
Remove sablecc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove sablecc configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge sablecc
