What is ruby-scanf
ruby-scanf is:
scanf is an implementation of the C function scanf(3), modified as necessary for Ruby compatibility.
The methods provided are String#scanf, IO#scanf, and Kernel#scanf. Kernel#scanf is a wrapper around STDIN.scanf. IO#scanf can be used on any IO stream, including file handles and sockets. scanf can be called either with or without a block.
There are three methods to install ruby-scanf on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ruby-scanf Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-scanf using apt-get by running the following command:

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-scanf using apt by running the following command:

Install ruby-scanf Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ruby-scanf using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ruby-scanf
How To Uninstall ruby-scanf on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the ruby-scanf package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ruby-scanf
Uninstall ruby-scanf And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ruby-scanf and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ruby-scanf
Remove ruby-scanf Configurations and Data
To remove ruby-scanf configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ruby-scanf
