How To Install ruby-riot on Ubuntu

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install ruby-riot on Ubuntu.

What is ruby-riot

ruby-riot is:

Riot is a fast, expressive, and context-driven unit-testing framework for the Ruby programming language.

In contrast to other popular Ruby testing frameworks such as Test::Unit, Shoulda and RSpec, Riot does not run a setup and teardown sequence before and after each test. In Riot, tests separated in “contexts” in which a “topic” object is defined, and assertions on this object are made.

There are three methods to install ruby-riot on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install ruby-riot Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install ruby-riot using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install ruby-riot

Install ruby-riot Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install ruby-riot using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install ruby-riot

Install ruby-riot Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install ruby-riot using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install ruby-riot

How To Uninstall ruby-riot on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the ruby-riot package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove ruby-riot

Uninstall ruby-riot And Its Dependencies

To uninstall ruby-riot and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove ruby-riot

Remove ruby-riot Configurations and Data

To remove ruby-riot configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge ruby-riot

Remove ruby-riot configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove ruby-riot configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ruby-riot
