How To Install ruby-net-ntp on Ubuntu

This project was a rubyfied version of perl’s Net::NTP module, by James G. Willmore. It provides a method to query an NTP server as specified in RFC1305 and RFC2030. Updated and re-released in 2010 by Zencoder.

There are three methods to install ruby-net-ntp on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install ruby-net-ntp Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install ruby-net-ntp using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install ruby-net-ntp

Install ruby-net-ntp Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install ruby-net-ntp using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install ruby-net-ntp

Install ruby-net-ntp Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install ruby-net-ntp using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install ruby-net-ntp

How To Uninstall ruby-net-ntp on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the ruby-net-ntp package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove ruby-net-ntp

Uninstall ruby-net-ntp And Its Dependencies

To uninstall ruby-net-ntp and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove ruby-net-ntp

Remove ruby-net-ntp Configurations and Data

To remove ruby-net-ntp configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge ruby-net-ntp

Remove ruby-net-ntp configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove ruby-net-ntp configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ruby-net-ntp
