In this tutorial we learn how to install ruby-jekyll-asciidoc on Ubuntu.

What is ruby-jekyll-asciidoc

ruby-jekyll-asciidoc is:

This plugin converts eligible AsciiDoc files located inside the source directory to HTML pages in the generated site. It consists of three plugins:

(1) a Converter to convert AsciiDoc source files to the HTML pages, (2) a Generator to promote AsciiDoc attributes to page variables, and (3) Liquid filters.

Any AsciiDoc attribute defined in the document header whose name begins with ‘page-’ gets promoted to a page variable. The value is then processed as YAML data.

There are three methods to install ruby-jekyll-asciidoc on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install ruby-jekyll-asciidoc Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install ruby-jekyll-asciidoc using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install ruby-jekyll-asciidoc

Install ruby-jekyll-asciidoc Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install ruby-jekyll-asciidoc using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install ruby-jekyll-asciidoc

Install ruby-jekyll-asciidoc Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install ruby-jekyll-asciidoc using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install ruby-jekyll-asciidoc

How To Uninstall ruby-jekyll-asciidoc on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the ruby-jekyll-asciidoc package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove ruby-jekyll-asciidoc

Uninstall ruby-jekyll-asciidoc And Its Dependencies

To uninstall ruby-jekyll-asciidoc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove ruby-jekyll-asciidoc

Remove ruby-jekyll-asciidoc Configurations and Data

To remove ruby-jekyll-asciidoc configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge ruby-jekyll-asciidoc

Remove ruby-jekyll-asciidoc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove ruby-jekyll-asciidoc configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ruby-jekyll-asciidoc
