How To Install ruby-factory-bot on Ubuntu

In this tutorial we learn how to install ruby-factory-bot on Ubuntu.

What is ruby-factory-bot

ruby-factory-bot is:

factory_bot provides a fixtures replacement with a straightforward definition syntax, support for multiple build strategies (saved instances, unsaved instances, attribute hashes, and stubbed objects), and support for multiple factories for the same class (user, admin_user, and so on), including factory inheritance.

There are three methods to install ruby-factory-bot on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install ruby-factory-bot Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install ruby-factory-bot using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install ruby-factory-bot

Install ruby-factory-bot Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install ruby-factory-bot using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install ruby-factory-bot

Install ruby-factory-bot Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install ruby-factory-bot using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install ruby-factory-bot

How To Uninstall ruby-factory-bot on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the ruby-factory-bot package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove ruby-factory-bot

Uninstall ruby-factory-bot And Its Dependencies

To uninstall ruby-factory-bot and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove ruby-factory-bot

Remove ruby-factory-bot Configurations and Data

To remove ruby-factory-bot configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge ruby-factory-bot

Remove ruby-factory-bot configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove ruby-factory-bot configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ruby-factory-bot
