In this tutorial we learn how to install roundcube-core on Ubuntu.

What is `roundcube-core`

roundcube-core is:

RoundCube Webmail is a browser-based multilingual IMAP client with an application-like user interface. It provides full functionality expected from an e-mail client, including MIME support, address book, folder manipulation and message filters.

The user interface is fully skinnable using XHTML and CSS 2.

This package provides the core code for roundcube. You should install it along with one of the roundcube database metapackages.

There are three methods to install roundcube-core on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install roundcube-core Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install roundcube-core using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install roundcube-core

Install roundcube-core Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install roundcube-core using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install roundcube-core

Install roundcube-core Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install roundcube-core using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install roundcube-core

How To Uninstall roundcube-core on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the roundcube-core package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove roundcube-core

Uninstall roundcube-core And Its Dependencies

To uninstall roundcube-core and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove roundcube-core

Remove roundcube-core Configurations and Data

To remove roundcube-core configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge roundcube-core

Remove roundcube-core configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove roundcube-core configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge roundcube-core
