Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install rep on Ubuntu.

What is rep

rep is:

rep is a dialect of Lisp, designed to be used both as an extension language for applications and as a general purpose programming language.

It was originally written to be mostly-compatible with Emacs Lisp, but has subsequently diverged markedly. Its aim is to combine the best features of Scheme and Common Lisp and provide an environment that is comfortable for implementing both small and large scale systems. It tries to be a “pragmatic” programming language.

There are three methods to install rep on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install rep Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install rep using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install rep

Install rep Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install rep using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install rep

Install rep Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install rep using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install rep

How To Uninstall rep on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the rep package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove rep

Uninstall rep And Its Dependencies

To uninstall rep and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove rep

Remove rep Configurations and Data

To remove rep configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge rep

Remove rep configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove rep configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge rep
