Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install remmina on Ubuntu.
What is remmina
remmina is:
Remmina is a remote desktop client written in GTK+, aiming to be useful for system administrators and travellers, who need to work with lots of remote computers in front of either large monitors or tiny netbooks.
Remmina supports multiple network protocols in an integrated and consistent user interface.
Currently RDP, VNC, SPICE, WWW, X2Go, EXEC and SSH are supported.
There are three methods to install remmina on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install remmina Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install remmina using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install remmina
Install remmina Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install remmina using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install remmina
Install remmina Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install remmina using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install remmina
How To Uninstall remmina on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the remmina package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove remmina
Uninstall remmina And Its Dependencies
To uninstall remmina and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove remmina
Remove remmina Configurations and Data
To remove remmina configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge remmina
Remove remmina configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove remmina configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge remmina
