In this tutorial we learn how to install rainloop on Ubuntu.
What is rainloop
rainloop is:
Rainloop is a PHP-based MUA with a modern interface and no database requirements.
It supports IMAP and SMTP protocols (including SSL), Sieve scripts, multiple accounts and identities, an admin panel for configuration, and integration with a variety of commonly-used services. Plugins can be installed to further extend functionality. Emails are not stored locally, but are accessed through IMAP.
There are three methods to install rainloop on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install rainloop Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install rainloop using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install rainloop
Install rainloop Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install rainloop using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install rainloop
Install rainloop Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install rainloop using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install rainloop
How To Uninstall rainloop on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the rainloop package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove rainloop
Uninstall rainloop And Its Dependencies
To uninstall rainloop and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove rainloop
Remove rainloop Configurations and Data
To remove rainloop configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge rainloop
Remove rainloop configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove rainloop configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge rainloop
