How To Install r-cran-keyring on Ubuntu

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install r-cran-keyring on Ubuntu.

What is r-cran-keyring

r-cran-keyring is:

Platform independent ‘API’ to access the operating system’s credential store. Currently supports: ‘Keychain’ on ‘macOS’, Credential Store on ‘Windows’, the Secret Service ‘API’ on ‘Linux’, and a simple, platform independent store implemented with environment variables. Additional storage back-ends can be added easily.

There are three methods to install r-cran-keyring on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install r-cran-keyring Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install r-cran-keyring using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install r-cran-keyring

Install r-cran-keyring Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install r-cran-keyring using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install r-cran-keyring

Install r-cran-keyring Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install r-cran-keyring using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install r-cran-keyring

How To Uninstall r-cran-keyring on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the r-cran-keyring package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove r-cran-keyring

Uninstall r-cran-keyring And Its Dependencies

To uninstall r-cran-keyring and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove r-cran-keyring

Remove r-cran-keyring Configurations and Data

To remove r-cran-keyring configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge r-cran-keyring

Remove r-cran-keyring configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove r-cran-keyring configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge r-cran-keyring
